Sneaking a peek at Hungry Cat

MID-CITY/GROVE: We got official word today that Babycakes NYC is indeed taking over at least half of the tire shop on the corner of Beverly Boulevard and Gardner, across from Buddha's Belly. The bakery was supposed to open a few blocks away but ran into issues; this location will prove much more glamorous, even though it was a garage: It will share the building with denim designer, Earnest Sewn. Babycakes is vegan, celiac-friendly and kosher, which pretty much covers the entire neighborhood's demographic, and it will open in June. We feel a contender for next year's uniform contest coming on---the pretty pink frocks will be designed by the next-door neighbor. [EaterWire]

HOLLYWOOD: The newly expanded Hungry Cat adds lunch hours on Tuesday, January 15. The kitchen is now open all day from noon to 1am during the week (limited menu between 3pm-5:30 and late-night), with brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The bar stays open until 2am Mon-Sat. [EaterWire]

BEVERLY HILLS: A Campanile/Mozzarella Mondays at Jar alum Michelle Francis has taken over all food and bev operations at the hidden Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive. New seasonal, locavorist menus, but the 360 Happy Hour---with $3.60 martines---remains. [EaterWire]
