A few updates from the morning:
1) Several top floors are engulfed in flames and black smoke at the Monte Carlo Hotel on the Strip. Eater is safely tucked away at Caesars several blocks away, but we feel for those being evacuated. It looks way scary, even on the TV.
2) Related: We got word that the Light Group will open a new steakhouse, Brand, at the Monte Carlo in April. Not sure how or if this fire will affect those plans. Light also operates Diablo's Cantina at the Monte Carlo, Fix at Bellagio and Stack at the Mirage.
3) Unrelated: Just had the. best. quiche. ever. Payard Patisserie and Bistro, which opened here at Caesars in November.
