Expect even cheap fast food to cost more soon. Wholesale food prices are skyrocketing---the National Restaurant Association estimates an 8.7 percent jump this year through August, on top of a 7.6 jump in 2007---so chains like McDonald's, Carl's Jr. and even Chipotle will be raising prices. "This is the most challenging environment for restaurant operators regarding food price inflation on the wholesale level for almost 30 years," said Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of research at the NRA.
