MELROSE: We don't know the reasoning behind it, but All’ Angelo’s opening chef Mirko Paderno quietly left the restaurant for, we hear, a gig with the Patina Group. In his place, Ezio Puccioni is the new executive chef. Born in Rimini, Italy on the Adriatic Coast, the young chef came to Los Angeles and worked for a few months at Angelini Osteria, where All’ Angelo owner Stefano Ongaro met him. Look for Emilia Romagna specialties like grilled Mediterranean turbot and striped bass carpaccio on the new menu. [Eater Inbox]
LOS FELIZ: Just like its big brother Dominick’s, Little Dom’s now serves a $10 bottles of prosecco (Carpene Marvolti) at weekend brunch (Sat-Sun). The $10 house Dago Red and White wines are still available. [Eater Inbox]
DOWNTOWN: Chains aren’t the only ones using the economic downturn as a marketing crutch. Edison will start “The Soup Kitchen” on Fridays (5pm-7pm) bringing “Depression Era cocktails at Depression Era prices.” The “Your 401K” is served in a tall glass with a card that reads, “Is your glass half empty or full?,” and “The Bail Out,” is some bourbon concoction. Drinks are 35 cents, plus free grilled cheese melts and tomato soup for more substantial comforting. 25% of sales go to local food banks and charities. [Eater Inbox]
WEHO: Mirabelle on Sunset says it has the “longest happy hour in Los Angeles” because it offers drinks for $5 and under, $1.50 oysters, and half-priced appetizers like ahi tartar and margherita pizzas on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4pm to 12am. They say happy hour, we say clearing out the inventory. [Examiner]
