"Le Marmiton est Ferme," reads the subject line from our Montana Avenue watcher. "I'm surprised not because I thought it was a great restaurant, but because I thought they'd be catching a lot of diners who didn't want to wait at the still always packed R & D. No hints about what will go into that space." Maybe it was exactly the opposite: Now that R&D is hording all the diners on the street, perhaps places like Le Marmiton can't survive. The Zagat listing says the restaurant/deli has been open since 1974---the times, they are a changing. Calls were placed to the restaurant/deli but no answer to confirm, but that in itself sounds like a confirmation. [Eater Inbox; photo]
