EaterWire: Dominick's Celebrates 60 Years, Cafe Was Does Flask Service, Tamale Festival This Weekend

WEST HOLLYWOOD: Warner Ebbink hasn't owned Dominick's for 60 years, but he and chef Brandon Boudet are celebrating the restaurant's 60th anniversary with three-course dinner specials on Tuesdays throughout November. Priced $19.48, of course. Dominick's was one of the celeb hot spots in its heyday but fell by the wayside through the years. After a brief stint as some nautical-themed experiment, Ebbink and Boudet took it over in 2004. [Eater Inbox]

HOLLYWOOD: This seems very fitting: Ivan Kane's Cafe Was doesn't have bottle service---it has flask service. We're not talking high-end spirits, here; more like Bacardi, Cuervo Gold, Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort or Wild Turkey. (Kane calls it "bohemian hobo.") Bottles range $58 to $72 and come in brown bags. While all the appropriate mixers come with, glasses are optional. [Eater Inbox]

EVENT: Once you get passed all this Halloween business, the Los Angeles Tamale Festival takes place this weekend at MacArthur Park. Music, food, arts and crafts, kids stuff, tamale cook-off, tamale eating contests, tamale everything. Admission is free; tamales are not. (Oct 31-Nov 2; Fri 3-8pm, Sat 10am-9pm, Sun 11am-6pm) [Dig Lounge]
