WESTWOOD: Consider this one in the works: There's an application for alcohol and change of ownership permit hanging on Good Earth on Broxton Avenue with the Barney's Beanery name all over it. Before the more wholesome attempt, this location was always some sort of "bar and grill," and because it's deep in UCLA coed territory we imagine there were many issues with serving minors and general frathouse debauchery, so getting the right liquor license might be tricky. We called Good Earth and a manager wasn't able to really say if or when Good Earth is closing, and at Beanery HQ they just say it's "in the early stages." Bruins, keep your eyes peeled: Maybe bowls of chili, walls full of extremely loud TVs and license plates (and possible stabbings) are in your future. FWIW, there's another Barney's in the works for Burbank; should open sometime in November.
