THIRD/FAIRFAX: The historic Los Angeles Farmers Market celebrates its 75th anniversary next year, and to celebrate they want to display your memories of the market on "memory boards" that will be set up around the market in 2009. To play, submit your stories (no more than 250 words), photos or other memorabilia to Marketing/Market Memories, 6333 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles, CA 90036 (or via memories@farmersmarketla.com) [Daily Dish]

WEST HOLLYWOOD: Former Doors bandmates Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger will celebrate Jim Morrison's birthday at the original Barney's Beanery on December 8. The Lizard King would've been 65 this year, and the Route 66 hangout was one of his favorite places in LA. The two will be reminiscing about the good old days and signing CDs. [Eater Inbox]

DOWNTOWN: A note from the chef himself: "Executive chef Yuji Iwasa is now running the food operations at the Standard Hotel...Taking a more fresh approach than the previous? A more seasonal fare, using sustainable ingredients, creating a cal-med fusion. Formerly of Koi restaurant, and opening of la defence in k-town." [Eater Inbox]
