Las Papas & Beer Fire Update: "It's Completely Gone"

Thanks to a reader who lives near the burned-out-shell of Las Papas & Beer on Melrose, we have this snap of last night's fire: "It's completely gone. The entire interior is a smoldering black wreckage. It appeared that the upstairs had burned all the way through, I could see sunlight coming through from the far back wall. It's definitely a complete rebuild before anyone uses that space again." A Yelper said Papas was closed several weeks ago, but an Eater commenter thought it was open just two weeks ago. Either way, at least no one was in the building or got hurt. There is a pending liquor license transfer for that space to Shunjin, a sushi restaurant, but we're yet to confirm what will happen with that now.
