In Defense of Top Chef

Since this season of Top Chef was filmed in New York, NYT's Frank Bruni feels the need to pay it some heed: "But what is surprising, and what strikes me time and again as I watch the show, is just how wonky and geeky and particular it gets about the food itself...If "Top Chef" is bad for the restaurant world, it’s not because of the effect the show has on fans. It’s because of the effect the show has on would-be and up-and-coming chefs. The show is yet another promise to young cooks that they can use, and should see, the role of chef as a road to celebrity." [Diner's Journal]
