A tequila downpour is about to begin Downtown: Gabe Morales' Provecho officially debuts in the groundfloor of the 800 Wilshire building today. If you've been following along, Morales (formerly Republic/Romanov, Boa, Fenix at the Argyle, Polo Lounge) told us about his vision in February and hoped for a May debut, but as happens there were some delays. But good things come to the office dwellers who wait---the bar has plenty of banquette seating and plasma TVs, not to mention the extensive tequila list; a glass wall separates the dining room from the bustling kitchen; and the menu offers a lot of tastes including torta sliders, 14 different ceviches and/or raw bar items, hard tacos, soft tacos, tamales...and that's just the apps. Only open for lunch this week, but they'll add afternoon and dinner hours on December 8. [800 Wilshire Blvd, 213.489.1406; website]
