Barker Block's Primo Cucina, Rendered

New, 4 comments

It's hard to not write about two things these days: Downtown and Tony Riviera and the Primo Hospitality Group. The former because even with the economic downturn, Downtown dining and nightlife development is still in full swing; the latter because multiple Caffe Primos and offshoots are planned to open all over the city in 2009. Thus, we have Primo Cucina at the Barker Block, still very much under construction but with an expected Februray'09 debut. It's a new concept for the group---open space with a gourmet market and restaurant for homemade pastas, condiments, meats and cheeses, wines, spirits, wood-oven pizzas, prepared foods, and what Riviera calls "several labratories," including one for making gelato. Riviera expects the Cucina and Caffe Primo (readying itself at the Pegasus lofts) will debut around the same time, with a bunch more concepts to open after: Primo Bistro in WeHo (Jan.), Tonys in the former Crudo space (mid-Jan.), and another across from the Biltmore downtown (Spring ''09). It's a river of Riviera.
