The Dish: The Counter, Yard House at L.A. Live, Chic, and Mediterranean Fresh Debut

New, 27 comments

1) El Segundo: The South Bay gets its own The Counter today. The burger joint went through a soft open last week but is officially open today. Same custom burgers, fried pickles, shakes and other accoutrements as the others. [700-A Allied Way, 310.524.9967 ; website]

2) Downtown: Next up for L.A. Live---the classic-rock blaring, giant beer drinking, bar-food mecca, the Yard House, officially opened yesterday. Because there are still a lot of construction barricades over on that side, at tip: It's located on Olympic, next to the garage entrance at Francisco Street. This one is just as all the others, plus a happy hour with specials on drinks and selected apps (Mon-Fri 3pm-6pm, Sun-Wed 10pm-12am), which might actually attract some of the anti-L.A. Live locals. [800 W. Olympic Blvd., 213.745.9273; website]

3) Mid-City: According to the Daily Dish, the owners of Bloom Cafe opened another cafe, Chic, nearby. The focus is rotisserie chicken, with some salads and sides, plus beer and wine. [5545 W. Pico Blvd., 323.525.0234]

4) Hollywood: And over at Food GPS, we learn about Mediterranean Fresh, a large breezy space that debuted next to Musso & Frank last week. The chef is Lebanese, the food follows suit: rotisserie chicken, lamb kebab, shish taouk (slow-roasted chicken slices) and shawarma (either chicken or beef), nothing over $10. [6669 Hollywood Blvd, 323.463.3552]
