Plywood Report: East Hollywood, Gobi, South Point Grill

HOLLYWOOD: While the plywood hasn't changed much at East on Hollywood Boulevard (except the new sparkliness on top), new info is trickling in. Most of what David Judaken previously told us about still holds true: Chef is Keven Alan Lee who hails from the former Lutece at the Venetian in Las Vegas; concept is pan-Asian with a California "light, healthy touch". Dodd Mitchell is designing the space with things like 10-foot fireplace at the entrance, a "canopy of trees" and 65-foot skylight on the patio, and leather 'bowls' hanging from the ceilings. Should open sometime in Spring 2009. [PLYWOOD]

SILVER LAKE: Co-owner Christina Riviera gives us a little more from the Gobi Mongolian BBQ place going into the same strip mall as Andiamo pizza: "We are halfway through our build out and hope to be open in early February. It is typical mongolian bbq with a choice of meats and fresh vegetables that are cooked on the grill in the main dining room while you wait. Additionally, we will have our beer and wine license so we will be offering soju cocktails made with fresh ingredients, unique beers and wines too." [PLYWOOD]

WEST HOLLYWOOD: A reader tips us off that the former Gaucho Grill (closed after 20 years due to "landlord issues") has new "coming soon" signage for South Point Grill, which Food GPS finds out is related to Southpoint Argentian Grill in Valencia. Sounds very meaty. They're shooting for a February debut. [PLYWOOD]
