EaterWire: Free New Year's Day Gelato, Becerra and Accarrino at Craft

New, 3 comments

STUDIO CITY: The Silverton's may have lost all of their investments in the Madoff Ponzi scheme scandal, but Gail and her husband Joel Gutman will still offer two-for-one gelato at their Gelato Bar on Thursday, New Year's Day, from 8am to closing. Silverton believes a little sweetness can go a long way: "We can then start 2009 with a feeling of hope and good will towards others and begin the healing process we all need." [Eater Inbox]

CENTURY CITY: The next farmer's dinner (the premiere one was fab) at Craft is slated Jan. 16. This time chef de cuisine Matt Accarrino teams up with Palate Food + Wine chef, and huge farmer's advocate, Octavio Becerra for a six-course dinner featuring fruit from Jim Churchill's farm. Expect things like goat confit ravioli with preserved Myere lemon, bacon-wrapped monkfish with blood orange and collard greens, venison leg and osso bucco with spice-poached kumquats. $140 per person, includes wine pairings.
