The Dish: Casa Updates, Corrections

Cooks in Casa's open kitchen

DOWNTOWN: We have a correction and update about Casa, which soft debuts today at California Plaza. First the update: The newbie is open for lunch until 2:30pm, will close for the afternoon, and reopens for dinner/drinks at 4:30pm with the bar rolling until midnight (same schedule tomorrow). We popped in for a little preview last night and, sure, they're still working out some kinks, but chef Kris Morningstar and crew are putting out some tasty tacos with homemade corn tortillas, snapper ceviche, "flaming" cheese with mushrooms, and a damn good braised rabbit in chestnut sauce among other things. The margaritas are totally working for us. As previously noted, the lunch menu is taqueria style; dinner is full, sit-down service.

We also previously reported that a $25 cover all three days this week will go to charity, but that's only on New Year's Eve. On Wednesday, it's $25 per person just for a table reservation, there will be an a la carte menu, and tables of four who book in advance will get a comp bottle of Milagro tequila. The bar and kitchen will be open until midnight. Consider this: Hop on the tequila train and head over to Rivera, which also debuts tonight, with a stop at Provecho in between. Salud! [350 S.
