Black Thursday Aftermath: Pro V-Day in Venice

New, 6 comments

In honor of the shitshow that is Valentine's Day, we asked you brave souls who went out last night to tell us how it went. We love us some romance, but hitting the scene on a night filled with overcrowded, understaffed restaurants with expensive set menus just doesn't spell l-o-v-e. And yet every restaurant in town was double booked. We'll roll out your war stories as they come in, so please, do share.

OK, OK. One more before the weekend, and lo and behold, one reader actually had a great time. Taking it all in stride at Joe's in Venice.

"I think it had to be the best deal in town at $85 for a four course meal. The starter was a basic, yet delicious lentil soup. I went for the duck and foie gras tortellini (It wasn't tortellini, but one of it's cousins) followed by the duck main, which were both excellent. For desert I tried the toffee pudding which exceeded my expectations. My wife had the scallops followed by a potato/truffle tort, with the lava chocolate cake for desert. The potato/truffle tort was good, but not amazing. Scallops were spot on. Our waiter was fantastic, friendly, and knowledgable and we had an amazing night. It was a bit busy, but we were expecting that for V-day. Given the price of other restaurants prix fixe and their perfect Negroni, I think Joe's was the right choice."
