Not that we don't already know Urasawa is one of the best restaurants in the country, but according to Opinionated About Dining foodblogger Steve Plotnicki, who created the Zagat/Michelin-like guide to “The 100 Best Restaurants of North America & Europe,” Hiro Urasawa’s nine-seat sushi bar in Beverly Hills is the best in the country, trumping the biggies in New York, San Francisco, and even the French Laundry. Plotnicki, a "food hobbyist" conducted a 10-month survey on his website, more than 900 people weighed in, and like Zagat, there are scores that we don't really understand, but it allows some ranking. Other LA restaurants to garner praise aren't shockers: Providence, Hatfield's, Spago, Il Grano, The Dining Room at the Langham (former Ritz, Pasadena), Matsuhisa and Sona.

Restaurants are organized into three categories: Worth Planning a Trip Around” (105 points or higher), “Worth Going Out of Your Way For” (100-104 points) and “Important Local Choices” (95-99 points).
