A new coffee chain will launch downtown at the corner of Spring and 3rd within the next four to six weeks. According to owner Ariel Graham, Lot 44 Coffee will be "The first ‘cup bar’ in Southern California. Each cup you buy (of single origin or blend), will be brewed to order exactly how you want it — without attitude." Is that a dig at Intelligentsia or LA Mill, which already offers by-the-cup coffee via the Clover machines, hmmm? Lot 44 will also have organic, fair trade, pesticide-free brews from small lots as well as larger coffee estates, eco-friendly serve-ware, and...wait for it...free wifi. Now, if the locals can convince Graham to open late and Sundays, she might be on to something. [Angelenic]
