EaterWire: New Echo Park Wine Bar, Drago Downtown, Melograno's Earth Day, Crudobar at BreadBar

New, 4 comments

ECHO PARK: A tipster emailed that Mitchell Frank's (Echo co-owner) wine bar in the former El Prado space (1805 W Sunset Blvd) opened last Friday night; another went by and saw lights on yesterday. With the gate pulled during the day and no one answering the phone, we don't really know if it's open, if the name has changed, or if there's wine to be sipped, but anything's possible. [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN: While his brothers Tanino and Giacomino are busy readying their new Beverly Hills restaurant Gitano, Celestino Drago is working his new project---Drago Centro, scheduled to open between the two Arco towers at City National Plaza in September. [EaterWire]

CENTURY CITY: We're glad we had a chance to try Ludobites at Breadbar on Third Street, but still lament the end of the special guest chef night with Ludovic Lefebvre. But Breadbar knows a good thing: A new night, Crudobar, starts on May 1 at the Westfield Century City mall location. It's a sushi/tapas concept, all plates $9-$19, with wine, beer and sake pairings. Chef Noriyuki Sugie trained with Charlie Trotter in Chicago and L'Aubergade in Bourdeaux; he was exec chef at Asiate in NYC, and he's opening restaurants in Reno and San Francisco soon. Crubobar ends May 31. [EaterWire Inbox]

HOLLYWOOD: It doesn't need to be all granola and tofu on Earth Day. The owners of the Piemontese restaurant, Melograno, will celebrate with an organic, earth-friendly menu on April 22. Barley risotto, Alaskan wild king salmon, seasonal ingredients, wine pairings, the works. Reservations are encouraged. [EaterWire Inbox]
