Cafe Was, Ivan Kane's post-Forty Deuce project, is making some headway. We're told the restaurant/supper club will probably open in mid-June, and in the above rendering we get just a taste of the decor to come. We're also tipped off to the menu: Maine lobster roll (competing with the Hungry Cat next door?), chilled oysters, tuna carpaccio, charcuterie, French onion soup, asparagus topped with poched egg, steak tartare, pizettes, burger with fried egg and brie, gnocchi with spicy tomato sauce and pancetta. Decadent, but it's Ivan Kane. The man brought burlesque back to Hollywood. Do you expect any less?
