Americana at Brand Update: Frida Debuts This Week

New, 6 comments

Frida Mexican Cuisine, one of the last full-service restaurants to open at Glendale's Americana at Brand mega-mall, debuts on Thursday, May 22. When we previewed AAB, one look inside the huge Mexican restaurant and we knew there was no way it would open within the first few weeks. Frida comes from the same owners as the charming spot on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, where we've had the pleasure of tossing back some decent margaritas, tacos, and chips and salsa. But this is the Rick Caruso-ed version: huge, shiny, over the top. We noted a large center bar, a nice-size patio anchoring one of the Brand entrances, murals, bright colors and lots of seating. Katsuya and Cheesecake Factory might have the fountains, but this is just as prime a location since its easily accessible for people who don't feel like fighting the hordes inside the mall, and for those who take advantage of nearby parking lots/streets instead of the spiral, dizzy-inducing garage. After Thursday, Frida will be open 11am-11pm Mon-Thu, 11am-12am Fri-Sat, and 11am-10pm Sun. (750 Americana Way, 818.551.1666)
