Yamashiro Gets Landmark Status: It Stays!

New, 5 comments

When the 10-acre property that Yamashiro and the Magic Castle sit on hit the market, there was some serious worry about the fate of the two structures. More importantly Yamashiro because it didn't have the landmark status that the Castle has...that is, until today. KPCC's Pat Morrison says the designation came through, which means the fate of the hilltop restaurant, pagoda and gardens is sealed: If the land sells, the restaurant stays. The food might not be that great, but it's an institution and we're glad it's safe. Now that that's settled, we recently got a notice that Yamashiro is hosting classic movie nights on Wednesdays in the lounge at 6pm and 9pm. Sake, views and The Producers? Sure, why not.
