In an effort to curtail the noise and public drunkenness complaints regularly filed from non-drunk residents, the Hermosa Beach Planning Commission is hitting the bars where it hurts: Last call. City planners want to have several bars close at midnight instead of 2am, and are looking to revoke liquor licenses based on the number of police complaints. (It's such a serious issue down there, the article has a handy-dandy police report search function to look up bars like Blue 32, The Mermaid, Fat Face Fenner's and all the others.) In theory an earlier last call might work, but then won't the neighbors just have rowdy drunks filing out of rowdy bars two hours earlier? [Daily Breeze]
