PASADENA: Lease issues forced Crown City Brewery to close. Open since 1988, the brewpub served its last Craftsman this weekend. Rumor has it the owners are looking for a new location. [EaterWire]

MELROSE: As mentioned before, the goth-looking Table 8 shuttered on May 31. At TON, Govind Armstrong sounded just a wee bit relieved but excited for the two new projects at hand: Turning the Melrose location into a burger joint called 8 oz and reopening Table 8 in the former Moustache/Chocolat space. He hopes to open 8 oz.---think gourmet burgers, artisan beers, wainscoting, subway tiles---by July. [EaterWire]

WEHO: Empress, the former Sushi on Sunset, only opened a year ago or so, but it recently closed. In an odd twist, the new owners will reopen it as?wait for it?Sushi on Sunset. [EaterWire]

SANTA MONICA: This one's not entirely confirmed yet (no one answers at the restaurant and the website is down, though) but we hear Yose on Main Street will close this month if it's not already. [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN: Charlie O's, the bar on the ground floor of the Alexandria Hotel, is closed for a couple months for renovations. Angelenic ponders: "Does that mean their crumbling ceiling held up in some places by what appears to be chicken wire, was just an aesthetic choice?" [Angelenic]
