A New York expat weighs on whether Joe's Pizza in Santa Monica is worthy of a New Yorker's praise. The verdict: Firm, crisp and chewy crust "with no tip sag"; silky, creamy mozzarella; fresh sauce; the pizza's deliciousness has nothing to do with the water. He finds it "so authentic that, for a moment, I thought I could hear basketballs pounding on the asphalt of the West 4th Street courts," and of course people will agree and disagree with this assessment ad nauseam. The big news is you won't have to schlep so far for a slice: Joe Vitale plans to open more locations in the LA area. [Slice]
