The Los Angeles Times is having a tough week with its 150 editorial staff cuts this week, and Russ Parson blogs about one big loss from the Food section: Donna Deane, who ran the test kitchen for 28 years. "It’s impossible to overstate how much Deane has brought to the section and through how many changes she has kept the kitchen sailing smoothly. Just one measure: she out-lasted six different Food editors, including Betsy Balsley, Ruth Reichl, Laurie Ochoa, me, Michalene Busico and Leslie Brenner." We haven't heard what other shake-ups are happening with that section, but Parsons says recipe testing will continue. [Daily Dish]
