There are reasons why chain restaurants in New York and San Francisco don't want calorie counts listed alongside menus: If people knew how bad some of this stuff was, they might not eat it. We don't have menu labeling laws in LA (yet), so LAist looks at the counts for one of their favorite summer treats: Oreo ice cream desserts. It isn't pretty. Baskin-Robbins 31 Below has 980 calories, Dairy Queen's Oreo Blizzard has 690, an Oreo shake from Jack in the Box has 770, and Cold Stone's milk and cookies shake has a whopping 1090 calories. To compare, a Whopper with cheese clocks in at 770 calories. Ooph. [LAist]
