The Dish: The Stork in Hollywood, Gyenari in Culver City

New, 6 comments

All new openings come to you via The Dish, our regular update of debuts all over town. Did we miss something? The tip line is open.

HOLLYWOOD: After a little tease last week, the hidden (literally: it's behind the Kodak Theater) Stork restaurant and lounge is now open. From nightlife heavyweights Loyal Pennings, John Terzian, Grace Fernandez, along with investors like DJ AM and former Baltimore Orioles lead-off man Brady Anderson, it's outfitted to feel a Soho loft New Yorkish, right down to the windows lifted from Andy Warhol's Factory. The menu (overseen by one Mr. Steven Arroyo) has things like sweet corn agnolotti, oysters on the half shell, yellowtail crudo, roasted marrow with herb salad, and steak frites, all priced in the lower teen to high 20s. Open Tue-Sat. (1738 N. Orange Dr, 323.462.3663)

CULVER CITY: The phase two trifecta of downtown CC openings is now complete: Sandwiched between the new Chipotle and Rush Street, Gyenari opened today. Reps tried to keep this all under wraps for a big reveal on Friday, so what we know is piecemeal but accurate: Upscale Korean BBQ cuisine with California influences, meats, vegetarian and vegan selections, organic produce, lunch and dinner seven days a week; the decor is "modern and minimalist" (and with notable glowing bars), nice patio, BBQ tables, lounge area. Open for lunch and dinner daily. (9540 Culver Blvd, 310.838.3131)
