Welcome back to the Plywood Report, our weekly look at the dining and drinking horizon. See something boarded or papered up or about to debut? Let us know

1) Marina Del Rey: A few readers emailed to find out when The Counter will open in the Waterside complex ("I need a good burger in the Marina, it's bleak so far"), and we have the date: August 11, per a staffer at the original Santa Monica location. Fried pickles and build-your-own burgers are weeks away. [PLYWOOD]

2) West Hollywood: More from Tony Riviera: He's breaking away from the Primo Hospitality Group domination to open Cristoni Pizzeria with a few celebrity investors Kevin Connolly (Entourage), Sam Cassell (Celtics) and Cuttino Mobley (Clippers) in one of the Strip strip malls (8539 W. Sunset Blvd.). Touting classic Neapolitan pizzas from Enrico Sautto who trained at Antica Pizzeria Da Michele in Naples, Italy, the restaurant will stay open until 3am on weekend nights, bonus for that party neighborhood. We're told it will open in a few weeks, with another planned for Beverly Hills. [POST-PLYWOOD]

3) Venice: We heard about a forthcoming Abbot Kinney steakhouse from the folks behind Wabi Sabi, and now we have a few more details from a tipster: "I stopped by the new Steakhouse concept (nobody knew the name) next to Wabi Sabi. Construction has begun, and I was told by the crew that they're looking at an opening approximately 3 months out. The space and features a large outdoor patio, indoor dining room that looks as though it will open onto the patio, and an upstairs dining area also." [PLYWOOD]

4) Downtown: A yet-to-be-named nightclub is planned for a spot on Hill Street next to Nine Zero Seven club, according to Angelenic. "The new lessees currently operate several bars and clubs in Hollywood and Echo Park, though names cannot be disclosed at this time," and it's not the guys behind The Echo. Anyone care to guess? [PRE-PLYWOOD]

5) Pasadena: The new Roy's Hawaiian on the corner of Colorado Boulevard and El Monte (anchoring Trio apartment building) near the Laemmle theatre is putting on final touches as we speak. The restaurant throws open the doors on August 8. This is Roy Yamaguchi's 10th restaurant in California and 37th worldwide. [POST-PLYWOOD]
