All at once people are wondering about Local, the forthcoming restaurant in the former Eastside Mercantile shop on Sunset Boulevard, but that's probably because all the signage now lights up at night with a semi-finished interior within. Local is owned by Jason Michaud (he also owned the antique shop), last seen behind the stoves at Three Drunken Goats in Montrose and Cobras & Matadors before that, so expect a global ("ethnically eclectic" says Zagat) focus with local ingredients. Looks intimate and casual inside, and hopefully that little patio will be open for dining as well. Nice touch: the Mercantile tractor remains on the roof. The opening is slated for this summer, and it doesn't look far off.
