First there was news about Jennie Cook closing Cook's Double Dutch due to rising rents in Culver City, and now we learn there's a new mixed-use project in the early planning stages for that same block of Washington Boulevard adjacent to the Kirk Douglas Theater, one with a restaurant:
The development will feature a unique two story restaurant space with an operable wall that completely opens up 28 feet height to the 40 foot side walk. It will also feature a organic rooftop garden which the restaurant can grow fruits and vegetables on. The remaining second, third, and fourth floors will consist of high performance creative office space with a nice courtyard. Not sure if this planned "Culver Theatre Building" has anything to do with Cook's landlord woes, but the renderings make it look like it will either take over or be adjacent to the restaurant space.
