EaterWire: Edison's 35-cent Martini Night, The Park's Vacation, Mitsuwa Closing in Little Tokyo

New, 6 comments

DOWNTOWN: Hey, drunks, see what happens when you can't control yourselves: For those who went to Edison's very cool 35-cent martini promotion on Thursdays and ordered nine cocktails all at once so you can slam them before the happy hour ended, those days are gone. You can still get the 35-cent martinis but it's now limited to one per customer and you can only get one with the Buffalo nickel they hand you at the door. Each week features a guest bartender and specialty cocktail, too. [EaterWire]

ECHO PARK: Along with their weekend specials (fatoush salad, sesame-crusted tuna, etc.), The Park sends a note about vacation time: "We will be closed starting August 4th and will reopen August 13th with our late summer/early fall menu." Mark it down. [EaterWire]

LITTLE TOKYO: We'll have to start calling it Little Seoul: Angelenic is reporting that Korean grocer H Mart is in talks to replace Mitsuwa Marketplace in the Little Tokyo Shopping Center. A group of Korean-Americans bought the center in May, so this isn't surprising. The deal isn't finalized, but negotiations are reportedly in the advanced stages and the switch could happen as early as next year. [Angelenic]

TELEVISION: We're not sure what to make of this one, but wanted to throw it out there: "Just had dinner on Abbott Kinney in Venice and was walking back home and noticed what looked like maybe a new restaurant. While trying to peek, there was a man out front who said they were filming a tv show. I guess it is called "chef academy" and will be on bravo next year-ish. Seems like the type of thing you would report." True, it is, although we haven't heard of this show yet. Anyone? [EaterWire Inbox]
