MID-WILSHIRE: The Bob statue from the demolished Bob's Big Boy was on eBay today: "Approx 7 feet tall, on a base 4 feet by 4 feet. Older 1950's-style Bob is the 'Suspender' Bob, not the 'Hamburger' Bob. Used, of course, and shows some signs of wear- a couple of scrapes, some re-painted areas (see pictures). Overall in very good condition." So good, in fact, he was snatched up for $3250. [Curbed LA]
CULVER CITY: A reader queries: "Are the Campanile owners planning to open a wine bar in CC? That is the word on the street but I want more details, the name, where (exactly), when, etc." That was the plan when Mark Peel and Jay Perrin's plans for the Oasis space almost fell through, but now that everything is back in motion for the La Brea "speakeasy," Perrin says Culver City is on the backburner. Sorry. [EaterWire]
PASADENA: According to flackage, Bar Celona in Old Town has made a "momentary change in theme," now billed as East 46. An Asian theme has replaced Spanish tapas during the Olympic games, so for the next few weeks there will be Wok N Roll-inspired (the owners' other restaurants) menu and cocktail specials while TVs all blast scenes from Beijing. It's supposed to all go back to Spanish tapas some time after the owners get back from Spain with "new chefs and menus in tow." [Eater Inbox]
