Spotted in Venice, another chain coffee house calling it quits. Does this mean locally-based Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is on the Starbucks fast-track to "profitability?" Not really. Reps tell us the Coffee Bean on Windward is simply relocating to a higher traffic spot on Lincoln and Washington in Marina del Rey. It's "strategic growth," meaning the company isn't opening thousands of stores and then closing, say, 600 in a year. Also unlike its competition, CB is still expanding around the country, albeit slowly, and going gangbusters internationally. They did, however, add a yogurt-based Ice Blended to the menu. Ok, that can stop.
