It's never easy losing one of your own: Longtime food and travel writer Chris Rubin died Friday from complications of cancer. He was 49. Chris recently worked for Gayot Publications, but he's written about dining, spirits and travel for Travel & Leisure, Los Angeles Times, Variety, and the Los Feliz Ledger among others. On a personal note, we'll never forget the first time we met Chris (Yi Cuisine) to the last (discussing religion and politics over Russian tea service at Romanov) and the myriad events in between. His dry wit will truly be missed. Thoughts go out to his wife Deborah and family. [Eating L.A. via Variety]
