EaterWire: Larkin's Expanding, Wilshire Fruit Vendors Return, Opaque Relocates

Larkin's: Looking downtown

EAGLE ROCK: Soul food restaurant Larkin's sends us a very enthusiastic (and somewhat cryptic) email: "We are still battling the city for our B&W license. Grrrrrr!! But we knew it was going to be a fight. For all you Downtown folks, we are in negotiations for a spot downtown. Not Larkin's but something even better!!!!! Hehe, I love secrets. We will let you know when the time is right." But you'd let us know sooner, right? [Eater Inbox]

MID-WILSHIRE: A tipster who says he "lives and dies" by the recently shutdown fruit carts says at least the vendors on Wilshire are back: "My guy said the cops shut him down a few days ago but he took care of it. The only difference I could see was that the salt was now in a closed mustard-ish shaker and the spicy stuff was in its ketchup equivalent." That's all it takes to comply? Mustard-ish shakers? [Eater Inbox]

SANTA MONICA: Now you see it, now you don't. Now you see it again (but not really). Dark dining restaurant Opaque has reopened after relocating from the Hyatt on Sunset to a club-like venue. There's still a blind waitstaff, and also a new chef with a secret identity (apparently he's under contract elsewhere). Like you'll be able to recognize him anyway. [Thrillist]
