EaterWire: LA's First Tilted Kilt, New Rustic Canyon Bakery, Temple Bar Closing

PASADENA: As the independent spots continue to drop off, the chains continue to roll in: A reader tipped us off that the Tilted Kilt has plans for the 'Dena, which the website confirms. It doesn't give too much info---like location---but here's what we know of the Kilt: Irish bar with servers in itty-bitty kilt-like skirts sporting lots of cleavage; each one has pool and darts; sports bar-esque; lots of beers. The first TK opened at the Rio in Vegas in 2003, and now there are 10 locations with 6 in the works and 8 more planned after that. A Hooters and a Tilted Kilt? Ah, Old Town. [EaterWire]

SANTA MONICA: Rustic Canyon will open a bakery up the street from the restaurant in early Spring 2009, operated by the restaurant's pastry chef Zoe Nathan. There is a location, but owner Josh Loeb doesn't want to disclose "just yet." Also notable: RC will stop serving lunch this coming Friday (8/29). They "want to focus more on dinner business." SANTA MONICA: LAist reports that the Temple Bar on Wilshire Boulevard will let the music die in September. Owners Louie and Netty Ryan are closing the music venue but will continue to run Zanzibar and Little Temple. They're also opening the Del Monte Speakeasy in the basement of their Venice club, The Townhouse. [LAist]
