Last night's Iron Chef America pitted Morimoto against chef Tyson Ophaso, introduced as the executive chef of Red Pearl Kitchen in Los Angeles. Too bad that's not true anymore---while Ophaso was brought on to try and resucitate the fledgling resto last year, as we understand it, he's no longer with the company. Shame since some of his dishes looked pretty interesting in Battle: Curry, even if the judges thought a few were too sweet. Not hard to guess which chef won. Recall that there's a good chance RPK is currently on the market. Did they try to hang on until the episode aired? Random sidenote: Looks like Ophaso was the talk of the NYC dining scene awhile back, but not for the reasons you might think. [ELA; She Said Pastry]
