If you're of the "Who cares if the economy is in the toilet. People still need to eat!" camp, there are two UCLA Extension courses currently offered for the budding restaurateur: Starting Your Own Restaurant, where an "expert" explains everything from creating a concept to building requirements and permitting, all the way to marketing, advertising and public relations; and The Restaurant Industry: Survey of Operations and Management, which does about the same thing with a different "expert." We're all for education, but if someone thinks all it takes is a couple of seminars to create a successful restaurant, it's straight to the Deathwatch for you. [via Daily Dish]
