Spotted: New Anisette Bar Tables

There are several new tall bistro tables lining the glass partition in the bar area at Anisette, and we couldn't be happier. Perhaps they'll actually alleviate some of the clusterfuckiness during peak hours. We prefer this bar to the dining room, and so do plenty of others according to Alain Giraud. "It's always buzzing at the bar," he says. We also find that going on a holiday like Labor Day is the golden opportunity to actually have an enjoyable meal there. Yesterday afternoon (yes, we gave it another try...Bouchon won't be here until next year), the place was calm, finding a spot at the bar was easy, service was slightly better than usual, moules frites and glass of rose kind of rocked it. Speaking of Bouchon, there's an urban myth floating around certain circles that Thomas Keller was recently spotted dining at Anisette and someone dropped a piece of silverware on his table---from the balcony above. Oopsers!
