Venice is losing another local hangout: Yo! Venice reports that Stroh's Gourmet Market closed this weekend. "A woman who will do a macrobiotic thing" is rumored to be its replacement. Miss Irene was kind of ga-ga over Jason Stroh's cheese selection and sandwiches when he opened the mostly take-out shop in 2003; a lot of locals talked up the breakfast burritos. Yo! wonders if losing another mom-and-pop place is due to Abbot Kinney's rising rents, which means only certain businesses can afford to set up shop there: The chains.
