The NY Times punctures the outdated view that it's all about scene and not substance in the LA restaurant scene. The writer travels to the "nameless neighborhood" of LA (spanning West Hollywood to Hancock Park to Beverly Boulevard), and hits Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne's Lucques, which celebrates 10 years this year, and ends across the street at Comme Ca, with Hatfield's, Osteria Mozza and BLD sandwiched in between. Of course, the scenesters still flock, as do the celebrities, but "now, even the most fashionable Angelenos will go out of their way to eat at a restaurant where the food is the real attraction."
