MID-CITY: Instead of just coming up with a new bar menu, All' Angelo added a whole new bar area: The "Spriz Bar" is a new lounge area in the front of the restaurant Prosseco or champagne and cichetti, Italian snacks, like cured meats, fritto misto, chicken liver pate or sea urchin. [Eater Inbox]

SMOKERS: Following the lead of cities like Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, the Los Angeles city council almost had a proposal to make smoking illegal within five feet of any restaurant table on a sidewalk, in an outdoor courtyard or on a patio, but the Arts, Parks, Health and Aging Committee decided to hold off for 45 days. If this proposal ever gets approved, it wouldn't include bars or nightclubs with patios. But one day all those resto-lounges will have to figure out which they really are. [LAT]

VEGAS: Even Vegas restaurants are clamoring for business: Book a room at the Venetian or Palazzo in Vegas through September 15, and get a $100 voucher for any restaurant on the property for each night you stay. There sare some stipulations and blacked out dates, of course, but that's $100 off your check at Bouchon, CarneVino, B&B Ristorante or Cut among others. [EaterWIre]
