EaterWire: Has Mec Been Scrapped? Pop Champagne Adds Lunch, Another Yelper Lawsuit

New, 5 comments

FAIRFAX: A reader spotted an "available" sign on the former Black Sea space on Fairfax, which was to become Larry Rudolph's Mec restaurant (French for "dude"). After delays and possibly permitting woes, perhaps he decided to cut his losses? Still awaiting word... [EaterWire]

PASADENA: The newish Pop Champagne Bar is starting to roll out extended hours and specials. First, it's now open for lunch Wed-Sat. There's also happy hour specials from 5pm-7pm those days (food discounts, plus $4 bellinis, mimosas or draft beers). Every Wednesday: $10 glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label NV. Every Thursday: $15 glass of Pommery POP Champagne (which really has no affiliation with the restaurant). [Eater Inbox]

YELPWORLD: Is this the start of a new trend? Another lawsuit has been filed against a Yelper, with accusations of libel. The person suing, a dentist, says: "I don't want these lies to be posted on the Web site about me ... I'm not looking for money." Since the lawsuit was filed, the (alleged) lying Yelper has since taken down all but one sentence of the review, but the one-star rating is still intact. [Chron]
