Plywood Report: Lucca, Charlie's, Kay 'n Dave's, More

HOLLYWOOD: The red plywood on Cahuenga (once a part of the color-coded block) has a little more behind it now: Incoming, Lucca Restaurant, a new Italian spot from Andrew Belchic (former owner of Citizen Smith a few doors away) and Nicky Nahas. The décor is supposed to be 1905 Italy, and we spotted some cool reclaimed wood (from an old barn) accents, brick walls, marble-topped bar, and a front door that's 100 years old. The goal is to serve food late-night, and they hope to open sometime in February. [PLYWOOD]

HOLLYWOOD: And that red building on Vine next to the Avalon?is the newly unsheathed Palihouse Vine. Of course, chef Brendan Collins (from the Palihouse Halloway) will be heading up things at The Hall Bar & Grill, which is slated to open late spring. [PLYWOOD]

MALIBU: We didn't know that Allegria closed three months ago, but soon to open in its place: Charlie's, a new steak and seafood joint from Malibu local, Charlie DiLorenzo. The whole place was gutted and rebuilt, and the look (and vibe) will be "contemporary, stylish but casual." You know, Malibu. End of January, early February debut. [POST-PLYWOOD]

CULVER CITY: The Kay 'n Dave's taking over the Pacifico's on Culver is tracking its own progress online, making our job just that much easier. The menu will be similar to the other locations, plus a full bar and firepits on the patio. Shooting for a spring opening. [PLYWOOD]

SILVER LAKE: It's not opening for a few months, but Eating L.A. has a few deets on Silver Take, a take-out and eat-in cafe in a tiny cottage near Edendale Grill. [PLYWOOD]
