The Dish: RH at Andaz, Rakasu Opening Soon

1) West Hollywood: As Curbed pointed out yesterday (and Thrillist today), the Andaz Hotel, the former "Riot House" Hyatt, is now open, which means the restaurant, RH, debuts as well---but not until tomorrow. The chef is Sebastien Archambault, who plans to work the market-to-table theme with seasonal ingredients; there's a traditional a la carte menu, but then something about "creating your own dish" from a list of ingredients. Tricky. The kitchen is wide open---even the walk-ins have glass doors for the foodie voyeurs. Three square served daily, beginning Friday, Jan. 9. [8401 Sunset Blvd, 323.656.1234; website]

2) Studio City: Considering how he left Republic in West Hollywood, it's interesting that Mikayel Israyelyan has transformed Prana Cafe (below the Russian haven, Romanov) into a sushi spot called Rakasu. The Daily Dish has it that former Koi sushi chef Rob Lucas will oversee the menu. Although Studio City needs a new sushi spot like it needs more cars, Lucas is positive he'll draw business with is fusion fare: "I have a big following from Koi," he tells the Times. "I have people from all over coming in." The restaurant will open sometime next week, dinner only; lunch starts in February. [12229 Ventura Blvd, 818.506.5200]
