VEGAS, BABY— On Dec 4 three-Michelin star chef Pierre Gagnaire will make his foray into US dining through his anticipated new eatery, Twist by Pierre Gagnaire debuting in the new Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas. Located 23 floors up Twist seats 74, involves a glass staircase, and "elevated tables" (?). Look for classic French cuisine with a modern spin, and for even more Pierre-centric details, reread the NYT piece from last week. [EaterWire]
VENICE— Well, it's not quite ice cream season (hell, this is LA, I guess it still is), but N'iceCream has expanded via its own version of meals on wheels. Owners leased a tiny space on the Venice boardwalk and purchased a golf cart which they stock with sweet frozen cream and drive along the oceanside strip. Right now the shop is only open on weekends but come March it will switch to daily summer hours. [LAW]
CULVER CITY— Gaby's Mediterranean plans yet another Express outpost. Coming to the corner of Washington and La Cienega, the casual eatery will focus on dine-in and drive-thru, in addition to (eventually) full-service catering. At this moment construction is underway, watch for an opening in February. [EaterWire]
