While the Hilton Checkers Hotel on Grand Avenue downtown may still be under construction, their new dining room is mostly complete. Remember the photos posted at the end of September? Apparently at that point the revamp had not been completed, though the above "completed" shots look rather similar. According to managers and concierge on site, the renovation for the restaurant took place practically overnight. More changes are still to come, including the reopening of their exterior patio and smoking section, and some menu tweaks. Chef Todd Allison is heading the kitchen and has added a homey braised shortrib 'potpie', a 14oz New York strip, and a roasted jidori chicken. The bar menu sports some new brunch cocktails as well as the tried and true hotel standards. Room and exterior renovations are expected to continue into early 2010.
