Mako Makes Moves

New, 1 comment

Mako, the Asian/Japanese small plates restaurant on S. Beverly, plans to leave its home for greener pastures. As it stands now, Mako's lease isn't up until this summer, however its landlord wants to make significant changes to the building in which the restaurant is housed, meaning Mako would have to find another space while he does that or close. Another worry is that rent could be raised. According to Rita Flora owner Rita Azar, the space inside and adjacent to her flower shop (the old Cobras and Matadors space) is indeed up for lease and Mako is heavy into negotiations with her to claim this space. It's all still a maybe, but seems like the transition it's going to happen. [EaterWire]
